Perfect Game USA

This year's Perfect Game - Academic Showcase was held at Terry Park in Fort Meyers, Florida on June 9-10, 2008. Four adjacent fields were used for the event. Six "academic teams" and two 2008 "unsigned teams compted.

The :"Academic Teams" were:

  • Columbia Blue
  • Crimson
  • Navy
  • Orange
  • Red
  • Teal

The "Uncommitted Teams" were Black and Orange.

The weather was hot and humid with heavy rain in the afternoon. Participants were 2009 and 2010 players as well as unsigned 2008 players from throughout the country. While there was preponderance of Florida players attending this event, other states which were represented t were Georgia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New York, Florida, California, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Alabama, Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, Minnesota, Arizona, Virgina, Rhode Island, Mississippi, New Hampshire and Illinois.

Heavy rain ended the Day One events in the early afternoon requiring a double header to be played by all 8 teams in attendance on Tuesday, June 10. In Game One for the Red Team, Jason Ormond, Whitney Young (Class of 2009) was the starting pitcher and later in the game played first base. He pitched 3 innings, allowing no runs in a game versus the Teal Team. The Red Team won its first game, 1-0 versus Teal.

If you want exposure, attend a Perfect Game event.

Perfect Game USA is devoted to furthering the development and career of the talented high school baseball player. To that end, Perfect Game USA produces the very highest national level individual player showcases and team tournaments all over the United States. These events have proved invaluable to the college coaching community and major league baseball as they can scout a large population of talented ball players all in one location.

Perfect Game is the top source for getting your name on the radar screen for collegees and professional scouts. The number of Perfect Game participants who play at the college level is much, much larger than the MLB amatuer draft totals. In the 2004 NCAA DI College World Series, the 8 team rosters included 155 former Perfect Game participants. The number was even higher at the 2005 College World Series. Many of the top college programs in the country have nearly all former Perfect Game participants on their rosters. Perfect Game also has many players who are continuing their baseball careers at Junior Colleges and other Small Colleges.

Perfect Game was recommended to me by the father who helped coach our Clubbers teams. This player went to Oklahoma and then was drafted into the Seattle Mariners system.

I recommend you make a Perfect Game event a part of your player development.
